About the Apples & Farm
Apple Acres Farm, located only 45 minutes from Portland, is southern Maine’s MOFGA certified organic apple orchard. They use naturally derived materials, such as kaolin clay, to reduce pest pressure rather than insecticides that kill pollinators. They use compost, wood chips, seaweed, and mineral dust as fertilizer, and mycorrhizal fungi booster, so excess nutrients aren’t leached into the Saco River watershed.
All apples for this pre-order are Grade A organic local McIntosh apples. McIntosh are the quintessential Maine Apple—snappy and sweet-tart. They’re great for applesauce, apple butter, juicing, freezing (slice first) or just taking a bite! They can be an excellent addition to a pie, but need to be combined with a firmer apple variety, such as Cortland or Northern Spy.
These apples are the true taste of Maine fall!
